Visit Maidstone in the Heart of Kent
Set in the centre of the Garden of England, this is the perfect location to enjoy this part of the world. We have been looking forward to the days when we can again share with you our 2000 years of history, where you can discover our castles, museums, ancient pathways or the stories surrounding our Neolithic stone monuments.
Kent offers the opportunity to breathe in pure air and enjoy the seasonal landscapes, be it the blossom of spring, the glinting water from the cool shade of a perfect tree on a hot summer afternoon. In the quieter seasons enjoy the colours of autumn and the scent of rich earth or shop in the Christmas markets. Explore our rivers either on a river trip with the Kentish Lady or on a self-drive hire boat. Hike or bike in the countryside and discover glorious pubs with excellent ales and local food.
Here in Kent you can find space for yourself or you can enjoy time with friends. You can sip excellent wines in our vineyards, discover our distilleries or take a tour of the hop gardens and savour some local beer. Fresh food is in abundance and here you will find some of the best fruit in England. Stop by a road side stall and enjoy the cherries, plums, apples, pears, apricots and strawberries. There are even places where you can pick a bouquet of beautiful English flowers from the field, as a souvenir to take home.
Maidstone is a place to feed your soul, where you can enjoy the music, dance at a festival or simply sit in a quiet country church and listen to the bird song.
Getting here is easy because it links the road network of England to the channel tunnel and the continent, but you just leave the motorway early to be enveloped into glorious countryside in seconds. It is easy to get here by train and is less than an hour from London.
